Just a kitchen? It would be except that there are three light sources to deal with, each a different temperature and intensity. There’s the ambient light coming in from big windows behind me, the hanging lights over the island, and the under cabinet lighting over the stove and counter.
The solution in this photo was to gel my studio lighting to match the temperature of the under-cabinet lighting, set my exposure to the ambient light under the cabinets, and then overexpose another image for the lights hanging over the island. With a little bit of post-processing this image came out looking exactly like you’d see it if you were standing there.
