Fairy by the Water

I love this image because besides being a beautiful shot, the girl is one of the few real things in it. Besides her the wings and some of the flowers are real. Everything else is meshed together.

I made this image with a technology called Virtual Background. The waterfall behind her was on a slide and projected onto a screen. I lit the subject and made sure that the light didn’t spill over to the background. The image was married together in the camera creating a fanciful image without needing to try and isolate the subject and adding her to a background.

The river she’s looking into? Mylar.

Post production on this was relatively light compared to what it would have been if I was trying to isolate the subject and add her to a background.
