This is one of my favorite photographs with one of my favorite models. It started at a kids’ Easter shoot where my studio had costumes for kids, giant bunnies, and this big egg. I stared at the egg for a while thinking that I should be able to do something interesting with it. After a moment I thought that it would be fun to have a person hatching out of the egg.
I talked with Invy about the shot, built the set, and hired a makeup artist to add some light touches to make Invy look a little animalistic.
I shot it with natural lighting, my mentor Jack Kegley helped with the lighting, bouncing the light coming in the window onto the scene.
There was very little Photoshop work on this one, mostly color enhancement and just a little bit of work filling in some of the plants.
