I was in Tucson, Arizona on a business trip and while sight seeing I saw the Mission San Xavier del Bac. I walked around the area for a while and determined that I wanted to photograph it. After scoping out the location and determining sunrise location I found a ridge overlooking the mission that would work.
Next day I set up and made the basic image.
Post production on this image is considerable. Those trees to the lower left of the frame sit where there’s really a parking lot. While I didn’t replace the sky with different exposures it’s been enhanced a lot. Same goes the the lighting on the mission itself. Enhancement followed by softening.
If I got the chance I’d re-shoot this from a crane in the parking lot which would have been a better angle.
